UNISON joins the Energy Bill Revolution

May 31st, 2012

We are pleased to announce that UNISON has joined the Energy Bill Revolution alliance, calling for warm homes and lower bills. UNISON is Britain and Europe’s biggest public sector union with more than 1.3 million members.

The Energy Bill Revolution is calling on the Government to use the money it gets from carbon taxes to make our homes super-energy efficient. This is the only permanent way to drive down household energy bills and end fuel poverty. It would be enough to bring 9 out of 10 homes out of fuel poverty, generate up to 200,000 jobs and save four times more carbon emissions than the Government’s new energy efficiency policies.

UNISON General Secretary Dave Prentis said:

UNISON supports the Energy Bill Revolution as a great way to not just help the environment but at the same time end fuel poverty by helping low paid families and vulnerable individuals struggling to pay high energy bills.
