The Ecology Building Society joins the revolution

September 27th, 2013

We are pleased to announce that the Ecology Building Society has joined the Energy Bill Revolution alliance, calling for warm homes and lower bills.

The Energy Bill Revolution is calling on the Government to use the money it gets from carbon taxes to make our homes super-energy efficient. This is the only permanent way to drive down energy bills and end fuel poverty.

From this year the Government is collecting over £2 billion in carbon tax, rising to £4 billion by 2020 and £7 billion by 2027. If the Government recycled carbon tax back to households, it could provide billions of pounds to help insulate the UK’s homes. The benefits would be immense. This major infrastructure programme could insulate more than 600,000 homes a year and bring 9 out of 10 homes out of fuel poverty, lower people’s bills, cut carbon emissions and create jobs. It’s time for an Energy Bill Revolution.

“Ecology is pleased to be supporting the Energy Bill Revolution. We believe that creating energy efficient homes not only helps to lower energy bills and improve health, it also reduces the harm we inflict on our planet. Through securing effective government funding to improve the energy efficiency of our housing, we can bring ourselves a step closer to permanently stamping out fuel poverty.”
